The Beardy’s & Okemasis First Nation has a new chief and half of its council is new, too.
Unofficial results say Remonda Gardipy was elected as chief of the reserve, defeating incumbent Rick Gamble and five other candidates.
Thirty-six people ran for council and four incumbents held onto their seats: Bernadette Thomas, Rayleen Gardipy, Ralph Gardippi and Donald Gamble.
New to council are Ruby Ehaypaise, Barbara Mosquito, Kurt Seesequasis and Bryce Michael.
The terms are for three years.
