New Outfitter Guidelines Proposed

Some new guidelines are being proposed for outfitters in the province.
The Saskatchewan Outfitters Association is looking at adopting best-practices in an effort to weed out unlicensed camps.
Association director Hal Stupenikoff says there’s been some problem with certain operations, which are set up by out-of-province owners who don’t follow the rules.
He explains some of the problems being caused by these owners include dumping game-birds in the bush and trespassing on private land.
Stupenikoff says implementing standards would also boost customer confidence because it would give buyers a sense of certainty when shopping around for an outfitting camp to vacation at.
He says the industry is still looking at the best way to implement the standards, but he’s hoping to put a plan in place within a year’s time.
