Northern Students to Visit Legislature, University

Nineteen northern youth are gearing up for a busy few days.

 

On Sunday, the high schoolers will head to Regina for a 3-day tour of government buildings and universities.

 

The trip is part of the government’s youth mentorship program, and aimed at educating the teens about government, democracy and the various opportunities that out there.

 

Harley Olsen is the C.E.O. of the provincial capital commission.

 

He says the kids will tour the legislature, attend a dinner hosted by the speaker of the house and meet with various other ministries.

 

The students come from communities including Stanley Mission, Pinehouse, Turnor Lake and Fond du lac.
