Five First Nations youth have returned home after representing the province at a business competition down east.
The high-school students study at Kakisiwew school on the Ochapowace First Nation.
Their teacher, Robert Cote explains they were taking part in this year’s E-Spirit business plan competition at the University of Moncton.
The focus of the event was to get aboriginal students from across the country to present business plans to one another.
Cote says his student’s idea centered on the area of fitness.
“It was called Ochapowace Fun Fitness. And basically we pulled all our fitness equipment together and put it in one room. The students developed some rules and policies regarding use of the equipment. In order to profit from it they charged a membership (fee) for people to use it”
Cote says the kids represented themselves very well at the event and they plan to go again next year.
