A candidate in last month’s Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation elections says his appeal has been turned down.

Former chief Harold Linklater says he was told by a committee member last week that his request had been denied and they wouldn’t be meeting again.

Linklater had objected to a decision not to recount ballots from the election which saw him lose by 9 votes to incumbent chief Darrell McCallum.

Of particular concern were 48 ballots that were determined to be spoiled.

Linklater said he and many others wanted them to be scrutinized.

He says he plans to review his legal options and may head to federal court.
