A playwright from the Poundmaker First Nation whose play was banned on her home reserve has lost her job.
Deanne Kasokeo had a contract through the local school to co-ordinate a literacy and writing contract.
She says she was told this week she’s been let go.
Last month, Kasokeo’s play Antigone, which is critical of Aboriginal politics, was banned by the band council.
Kasokeo staged it anyway.
Kasokeo says she’ll keep staging the play, just not at Poundmaker.
Band council officials did not immediately return phone calls.
