The provincial government may be interested in helping to fund a permanent homeless shelter in North Battleford.

But, a government official says it doesn’t want to be the only funding source.

Social Services spokesman Alan Jones says the city and federal government would have to get involved.

North Battleford Mayor Ian Hamilton is pleased to hear that. He says that’s exactly the way the city sees it.

On Thursday, a temporary homeless shelter run by the Battlefords Indian and Metis Friendship Centre was shut down, due to lack of funds.
