The Minister of Social Services signed Letters of Understanding with the FSIN and Metis Nation this morning to work together to change the child welfare system.
June Draude says there is a new focus on children-in-care, according to the Child Welfare Transformation Strategy.
Whitefish says it’s an historic day and that it’s important to include the chiefs to work together to enhance the lives of First Nations children.
Robert Doucette agrees with Minister’s new approach on working with the family first.
Doucette adds it’s important for children to know where they come from because of his own experiences growing up in foster homes as part of the Sixties Scoop.
