A request is underway for the Supreme Court of Canada to hear the case of the so-called “Walmart Baby”.
Crown prosecutors in the province confirm they have written the court for permission to hold an appeal hearing.
Lane Weigers at the prosecutor’s office says they will now wait to hear what the court has to say.
It was nearly 4 years ago that a baby was pulled from a toilet in the bathroom of the Walmart in Prince Albert.
The child was revived and April Halkett was subsequently charged with child abandonment.
However, a judge found her not guilty of the crime in 2009.
