Reserve Families Still Homeless Over Flooding

It appears this weekend’s blizzard in southeastern Saskatchewan did not have a drastic impact on the flooding situation in the province.
Flood officials say some water has been added to the Qu’Appelle River system, but they don’t think it will impact levels dramatically.
Saskatchewan Watershed Authority spokesman John Fahlman says 46 people remain out of their homes on the Sakimay First Nation, while two more families from Ochapowace and Cowessess also remain out of theirs.
Fahlman notes emergency crews have had a challenging job getting onto some of the reserve roads due to flood damage.
He says the Carrot River is receding, but some floodwaters still remain near the Red Earth First Nation.
