It was a golden sweep for Team Saskatchewan at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Saskatoon this past weekend.

First, the girls won 7-3 over Eastern Door and the North and then the boys won 4-3 in overtime over EDN.

EDN tied that game with just 25 seconds left in regulation.

Then just over six minutes in, Damien Kulynych poked in a rebound after a Jared Iron slapshot to win it for the hosts.

This is the fourth straight year the Saskatchewan boys have claimed the gold medal, and the first time the girls have ever won gold.

The Saskatchewan girls team also finished in top spot during the round robin, also a first.

Not only did the Saskatchewan teams sweep the gold medals, they also swept the Most Outstanding Player titles.

Goalie Kamil Przepiorka won on the boys’ side, and Jamie Fedler was awarded the title for the girls after scoring two goals in the gold medal game.

Saskatchewan players also dominated the all-star teams.
