The search continues for a missing mushroom picker in northern Saskatchewan.

The RCMP search and rescue team, volunteers and a civilian search aircraft failed to find 28-year-old Albert Justin Custer yesterday.

Custer hasn’t been seen since he was separated from family members while picking mushrooms Tuesday night in a remote area five kilometres south of the Hanson Lake road.

A severe storm rolled through the area, and there are concerns Custer may have retreated into the woods and then become disoriented.

Corporal Rob King says the search has been complicated by the fact the area in question is densely wooded.

King says a civilian search and rescue team will be joining the search today.

He also says the RCMP will be checking nearby communities, the highway and resorts along the highway.

King says while Custer wasn’t prepared to be lost in the bush this long, he thinks he has the skills to survive.

Police are asking anyone who was traveling through the area or may have seen Custer to contact the Deschambault Lake RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
