A sentence has been handed down to a Shoal Lake man convicted of manslaughter.
Last year, Royce Virgil Bear was arrested after a 24-year-old man died on the Shoal Lake First Nation.
The family of the man who died asked that his name not be released.
He died after an altercation with Bear outside a house in November of 2009.
Bear eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
On Thursday, a judge ordered him to spend the next five years and ten months behind bars.
He also is prohibited from owning a gun for the next decade.
