The president of the Ochapowace Thunder says she feels the Prairie Junior Hockey League is not doing enough to protect its players.
Cheryl Thomas says on Monday night one of their players was badly hurt in a vicious hit.
She explains defenseman Windan Cyr was heading back into his own zone to play the puck when the incident occurred.
Thomas says Cyr suffered 3 broken vertebrae and will be in a back-brace for months.
She says the player who hit him should have been suspended but the league refused.
Thomas says the league has missed an opportunity to send a message to its players that this type of thing will not be tolerated.
