A shooting incident on the Thunderchild First Nation over the weekend has resulted in an attempted murder charged being filed against a 25-year-old local man.
RCMP say the alleged 25-year-old male victim was admitted to the hospital in Turtleford early Friday evening with “superficial, non-life-threatening gunshots wounds to his body”.
The Mounties say it appears the two men got into a verbal confrontation earlier in the day.
They allege the suspect later fired a number of rounds from a shotgun at the victim as he was walking on a reserve road.
The suspect was arrested at a residence the same evening, but apparently not without incident.
Among the other charges Eric Patrick Cook faces is assaulting a police officer and assault of a peace officer.
RCMP say a shotgun was seized as part of the investigation.
Cook appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court this morning and remains in custody.
