Waters Rising at Cumberland House

A flow of water from the Torch River is pushing up water levels near Cumberland House.
The rise has caught the attention of the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority.
Up to now, much of the focus had been on mitigating water levels from the Saskatchewan River.
However policy director Dale Hjertaas says they have switched their attention to Cumberland Lake instead.
Meantime, water flows near Tobin Lake have been measured at 3,050 cubic metres per second.
Yesterday, the Watershed Authority announced they were holding back some of the water in that region to try and spread out the crest of the water.
That crest is expected to hit Cumberland House on Friday.
Meantime, officials with the government say much of the work has been completed on berms protecting the community.
And, Saskatchewan highways says highway 123 is open to all traffic.
