A woman is facing the possibility of spending six years in jail relating to the death of her uncle on the Muscowpetung First Nation this past January.

Twenty-six-year-old Seanna Rae Nahnepowisk was originally charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Regina Provincial court yesterday.

Crown Prosecuter Mitch Miller says he agreed to a joint submission with her defence lawyer, noting the victim was intoxicated and aggressive towards Nahnepowisk.

Miller says Nahnepowisk’s age, pregnancy and the fact she has a young child at home are also mitigating factors.

The judge has reserved her decision until June 27th.
