A dog attack in the far North has sent a child to hospital with serious injuries.
RCMP say the attack happened on Saturday near Southend.
A four-year-old boy and his care-giver were out in the bush helping a sled-dog owner feed his animals.
The boy was told to remain in the truck but apparently exited at some point.
It was then that a dog, which was off the leash, attacked the youngster.
The youth suffered serious injuries to his face and was rushed by air ambulance to hospital in Saskatoon.
The dog that attacked the boy was struck by a passing motorist and killed.
The sled-dog owner then destroyed the rest of his animals.
Sergeant Paul Dawson says the body of the dog that attacked the boy is being sent away for testing.
The boy is currently in hospital with serious injuries, but none of them are life threatening.
Dawson says charges are not expected to be laid in the incident.
