A lawyer is assuring former students of the Timber Bay Children’s Home that the upcoming deadline for the common experience payment doesn’t apply to their case.
For the past few years Michael Swinwood has been working to get the school placed on the list of institutions eligible for compensation.
The federal government has said applications for the common experience payment will be accepted up to September 19th of this year.
However Swinwood explains that this doesn’t apply to the Timber Bay school, because it hasn’t been recognized yet by the government.
He adds the case is currently proceeding along and they’re waiting for the federal government to produce its next piece of evidence to them.
