The First Nations University of Canada is holding celebrations today to make a unique partnership.

It was 35 years ago the FNUC, which was then known as the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College, struck a partnership with the University of Regina.

The U of R granted degrees for the school which eventually enabled them to offer things like Indigenous education, Indian Social work, business degrees and others.

Carrie Lavallee is acting director of health sciences for the school’s northern campus in Prince Albert.

She says they’re looking to expand their curriculum even more.

The northern campus is hosting a barbecue over the noon hour today on 11th street in Prince Albert.
