A utility company with deep roots in the United States is hoping to strike a deal with the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.

Officials from Quantum Utility Generation were in Prince Albert yesterday to talk to band officials.

The two sides are working on a long-term agreement that could result in future hydro-related projects.

Company director Akhil Unni says his firm has already struck successful arrangements with two tribes in Oregon, and it is looking to do the same thing in northern Saskatchewan.

Unni says the two sides have hammered out a general framework.

He adds they are now looking to get feedback from PBCN’s respective communities over what they think about a long-term deal.
