Highway crews continue to try and patch up the beleaguered road to Cumberland House.

Highway 123 was temporarily closed to many vehicles during the height of this summer’s flooding.

Saskatchewan Highways spokesperson Kirsten Leatherdale says much of the work is focused on a stretch of road 40 km north of the Highway 55 junction.

Leatherdale says crews are deep-patching parts of the road, replacing base materials and re-laying the surface.

She says they are also applying a layer of liquid asphalt to it that is mixed with gravel.

Leatherdale notes rainy weather has disrupted much of the work for the past three weeks, but she says the ministry is hopeful it can finish most of it by the middle of next week.
