A Regina anti-racism advocate is concerned about how police will investigate Wednesday’s shooting involving a city police officer.
Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism spokesman Bob Hughes says he is questioning the process of police investigating other police officers.
He says he wanted to raise these questions so that, at the very least, it “makes the overseer more diligent, we hope”.
A 22-year-old man allegedly wielding a knife was shot by police in the northwest part of the city.
Earlier this week, Regina Police Chief Troy Hagen said a thorough investigation will be done according to the Saskatchewan Police Act with an independent observer.
Hughes also says he would like to see less lethal methods used to apprehend suspects.
