A former Prime Minister of Canada was in Saskatoon today announcing a new program to help students stay in school and go on to succeed in business.

The Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship program will begin at the Oskayak High School with funding from the Royal Bank of Canada.

The Right Honourable Paul Martin says that education is key to many issues facing Aboriginal Canadians and the program is meant improve progress for youth in high schools.

“There is a lot of progress that has been made at the University and College level, but nowhere near the same amount of progress has been made at early learning, elementary schools or secondary schools. I decided to focus on those areas.”

Under the program, students are eligible for training and materials including 500 dollars to start a micro-business.
