An internal investigation is being launched at the Willow Cree Healing Lodge after the recent escape of an inmate there.
Twenty-six-year-old Terrance Bear went missing from the facility back on September 16th.
At the time, he was serving a sentence of 13 years for two counts of manslaughter.
Police arrested Bear in Prince Albert last week.
He has since appeared in court and been handed an extra three months of jail time.
Correctional Service of Canada spokesperson April Morris says the investigation at the healing lodge will ensure responsibility and accountability.
Morris won’t go into specifics about the state of the healing lodge right now or whether any interim changes have been made – other than to say it doesn’t involve a lockdown.
There are 39 inmates at the institution.
