Members of the La Ronge Regional Critical Incident Stress Management Team are working to raise awareness about the service they provide.
The group has been operating since April with 21 volunteers who were trained last fall.
Its mandate is to assist groups of people, rather than individuals.
Team Chair Wendy Ahenakew says witnessing a traumatic event like a death or injury can cause distress in entire groups.
Ahenakew says the service is a means for people affected by a critical incident to talk about their experience and receive support.
La Ronge Fire Chief Ron Pratt says the debriefing process is important for emergency personnel who deal with fatalities — and that’s why the La Ronge fire department uses it.
The critical incident team can be reached by contacting a crisis line at 425-4090.
