The president of the University of Saskatchewan was in La Ronge today as part of his annual visit to the north.
Dr. Peter McKinnon was at Northlands College this morning to hear from nursing students in four communities.
McKinnon says today’s technologies allow the university to reach many more students than in the past.
“I was really impressed today by the number of students who indicated that they would not have been able to follow their dreams, had it not been for the fact that they were able to do so here in La Ronge or Ile-a-la-Crosse, or in Creighton. Students who otherwise would not have been able to undertake the program in nursing are able to undertake it because we can now offer them educational opportunities where they live.”
McKinnon is also speaking to high school students today, and meeting with local U of S alumni at a reception this evening.
