An Aboriginal woman living in Regina has won a Lotto Max prize worth $1 million.
Mary Favel’s winning ticket was purchased in time for the November 18th draw.
The 61-year-old Favel says she initially thought she had won $10,000 when she scanned it on a self-checker.
When she gave it to a store clerk to scan, the clerk told her it was worth $100,000.
It was only when her daughter tried to schedule an appointment with the lottery office, that a representative realized the winning ticket was actually worth $1 million.
Favel says she was on her way to her cleaning job when her daughter phoned her with the news — prompting Favel to hang up the phone because she couldn’t absorb the information.
She has already bought a new vehicle, and plans to buy a new house and share the winnings with family.
