The loss of elder Isador Pelletier is being felt in Regina at both the First Nations University of Canada and the University of Regina.
Pelletier passed away Wednesday at the age of 75.
U. of R. President Vianne Timmons says she consulted the late elder many times during last year’s crisis at the FNUC.
“He assisted me greatly, in giving me insight . . . he was like a bit of a safety net over at First Nations University. He was with me through all of the difficulties that they went through and he was always positive and optimistic, and he stood strong beside me . . . so it is a real loss for the First Nations University and the University of Regina.”
City councillor Louis Brown says the city has lowered the Treaty 4 flag at the request of the First Nations community.
