A former prison guard in Prince Albert who was arrested after he allegedly struck and killed a teenage girl on a bicycle has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Forty-three-year-old Leslie Samoleski was initially charged with impaired driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and four weapons charges.
It was back in April that 14-year-old Montana Netmaker was riding her bike in the city when she was hit and killed.
Samoleski was then tracked to a house by police, who engaged him in a 15-hour standoff before he surrendered.
He pleaded guilty to three lesser charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court yesterday.
They include possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, storing a loaded rifle and having care or control of a motor vehicle that was involved in an accident resulting in a death.
According to a court official, the other charges were withdrawn.
Samoleski will be sentenced on April 3rd.
At the time of the incident, Samoleski was employed in Prince Albert as a prison guard.
However, corrections officials say he was terminated when the charges were laid.
