Dates have been set to hold a new inquest into the death of a northern man.
The original inquest into the death of 38 year-old Harry Haineault halted last year after new evidence surfaced during the case.
The brother of the deceased man, who was shot by an RCMP officer in September of 2008 on the Clearwater River Dene Nation, produced video-evidence during the inquiry.
The coroner in charge of the matter halted the proceedings so lawyers could look at the tape.
Now the coroner’s office in Regina says a new inquest will be held from March 12th to the 16th and a new jury will be selected to hear the case.
That’s not going over well with Haineault’s brother Walter, who wanted the original jury to stay on.
Walter Haineault says it’s important that the jurors who heard the RCMP officers’ original testimony be there.
The inquest will take place at the Meadow Lake courthouse.
