A northern mining company has found a bit of gold in an unusual place.

Golden Band Resources says it has recovered some gold till that was lying in soil overtop of the E.P. Gold Desposit.

Company vice-president Rodney Orr says the mineralized gold till was put there by glaciers moving across the area thousands of years ago:

“It basically scraped off the top of the deposit and then transported it down ice, from north to south, and then deposited the gold in with the glacial overburden or till that’s there.”

He says the company has started to process the material which could add up to four thousand ounces.

The mine-site is located northwest of Brabant Lake.
