The number of people employed in Saskatchewan in December 2011 was 523,500.

That’s a record for the month of December.

Year-over-year, there was an increase of 3,100 jobs.

Off-reserve Aboriginal employment rose by 5,000 jobs and Aboriginal youth employment was up by 400 jobs.

However, the NDP says job growth in Saskatchewan is largely stagnant with most other provinces outpacing us.

The New Democrats also note the First Nations unemployment rate is still 20.7% and the Metis unemployment rate is 11.2%.
