Three residents have been asked to leave the Lac La Ronge Indian Band reserve.

Chief Tammy Cook-Seerson says the banishment is being exercised in the interests of community safety.

The chief won’t identify who the residents are or which reserves they come from.

But she says they will be given the chance to return sometime down the line:

“Oh yeah, for sure, there’s always a chance for people to return to the community.  You know you can attend counseling or different programs depending on what they agree to between leadership and individuals who have been asked to leave the community”

She adds the band council still has to sign the resolution compelling the trio to leave, but once that’s done the order will be delivered to the residents.
