A photographic display depicting the history of the north will be taken to several communities in Manitoba and Saskatchewan this week.
The collection was organized to commemorate a canoe trip through the area made 100 years ago by Ernest Oberholtzer and his Ojibwa guide, Billy Magee.
Organizer Les Oystryk says the first event in Saskatchewan is on Wednesday in Cumberland House.
“From Fort Francis, Ontario to The Pas, Manitoba, he travelled through Cumberland House, through Beaver Lake, Pelican Narrows and up to Reindeer Lake.”
Oystryk says they hope to meet people whose family members lived in the communities and were photographed during the canoe trip in 1912.
