An inmate has been sentenced for his part in a violent brawl at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary that dates back to the fall of 2010.
Faron Redwood stood before a judge this morning in Prince Albert Provincial Court, where he received a sentence of three years.
He is already serving an indeterminate sentence in the penitentiary as a dangerous offender.
Court heard that Redwood became involved in a brawl between rival gangs.
He picked up a metal bar and hit one of the other inmates and then helped lead the assault on another.
Redwood has been in segregation since August, but has asked to be placed back in the general population.
Court also heard that the RCMP located several makeshift weapons at the scene that were apparently former pieces of weightlifting equipment.
Redwood is one of the last prisoners to be sentenced in the affair, which sparked numerous other charges at the time.
