A 58-year-old man is dead after being hit by a taxi in Air Ronge over the weekend.
RCMP say the accident took place early Saturday morning while the cab was transporting customers.
The taxi was driving south on Highway 2 when the man, who was walking in the same direction on the shoulder, stepped into the lane.
According to the RCMP, the driver of the taxi tried to avoid the pedestrian — but ended up striking the victim with the right side of the vehicle.
Police have not released the victim’s name, but say he was a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and a resident of the La Ronge area.
The collision is still under investigation.
An autopsy has been ordered on the victim’s body.
