The Poundmaker First Nation will meet April 26th to decide which election process it will follow in the wake of recent guilty pleas from band leaders for theft of Treaty Land Entitlement funds.
Band members made that decision during an emergency meeting Thursday night.
About 150 people attended the meeting in a packed hall.
Chief Duane Antoine, one of the band officials who entered a guilty plea in a plea deal earlier this week, told the crowd the band has been following a band custom code developed in 1998.
But some people opposed to the current administration said they have never heard of that code, and have been developing a different band custom code.
Next Thursday, band members will decide which one to follow.
The Poundmaker band election takes place May 15th.
