The First Nations University of Canada says it is planning on adding more faculty positions.
The school’s vice-president of finance says a surplus budget in 2011 helped bring about the decision.
At this point, Juliano Tupone is not sure where the eight new positions will be allocated — but he says an academic and strategic plan is forthcoming.
Tupone says $600,000 will also be spent on information technology to spruce up areas such as video conferencing for distance courses.
He says the upgrades should be ready in time for fall classes.
