Several members of First Nations from British Columbia rolled through Saskatoon today on a nation-wide whistle stop tour.
They are trying to raise awareness about the potential impact of an Enbridge pipeline.
The Yinka Dene Alliance and the Haida Nation are two of the main groups coordinating the “Freedom Train”.
Haida vice-president April Churchill says the pipeline, which is slated to run through much of western Canada, poses a threat to their way of life:
“Cultures will die, and people will die. It is our duty to protect our territorial lands. We have to do this.”
The Freedom Train is continuing on to Winnipeg for a water ceremony, and ultimately, Toronto.
