Around 100 people descended on the Saskatchewan Legislature yesterday to voice their opposition to the proposed storage of nuclear waste in the province.
The Committee for Future Generations presented the government with a petition against the idea.
Organizer Max Morin says over twelve thousand signatures were on the document, which they presented to the government.
“At around 3:30 we met with the minister of the environment and he was patient enough to listen to us for about an hour.”
Morin says he and his fellow demonstrators feel they got their point across and that the government is listening to them.
He adds they were joined in the efforts by 200 people who were also at the legislature to protest cuts to the film industry.
