A new report by Canada’s electricity sector says 45,000 new workers will be needed over the next four years.
Michelle Branigan helped author the report, and says her industry would really like to tap into the Aboriginal workforce.
She explains half of the positions expected to open up will be in critical roles such as power line workers, power systems operators and engineers.
The other half will be in construction and various other support areas.
Branigan, who is also the executive director of the Electricity Sector Council, says there are many opportunities available for people who want to work outside and not have to leave their home community to get a job.
She adds the openings are driven by retirements and upcoming infrastructure projects.
