A First Nations leader on the West Coast says he isn’t too impressed with the makeup of an advisory panel recently named to aid the federal government.

However, Union of BC Indian Chiefs Grand Chief Stewart Phillip says he isn’t all that surprised, either.

The chief is commenting on the fact that no Aboriginal groups were placed on the federal Hunting and Angling Advisory Panel.

Phillip says Aboriginal people shouldn’t accept this without a fight:

“I think the future of our grandchildren’s grandchildren depends on how effectively we raise our voice in opposition to this outrageous attack.”

He believes moves like this are being driven by the oil industry and other industrial groups — and are aimed at severing First Nations ties to the land.
