A memorandum of understanding was signed today in Prince Albert National Park between the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and Canada World Youth.
The MOU essentially outlines a plan by the two sides to work closer together and develop outreach opportunities for youth.
Organizers say this could involve having First Nations kids working with youth from other countries on activities like rebuilding schools or planting trees.
Jessica Whitehead of the Sakimay First Nation attended today’s signing as part of the FSIN’s week-long culture camp.
Whitehead feels it is important for her and others to develop their cultural heritage and to share it with other people.
She says the camp has also taught her how to feed herself when the power is out, as well as various tidbits on traditional medicine.
