A meeting is being set for later this summer to discuss the state of two highways in northwest Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Highways spokesperson Kirsten Leatherdale says plans are in the works to hold a meeting in early September with members of the Canoe Lake Cree Nation.
At issue is the condition of Highways 903 and 965.
Canoe Lake’s chief recently issued a public letter condemning the state of the unpaved roads — saying they are hazardous and negatively impacting medical transportation services, local school buses and tourism.
He also said the reserve’s population might resort to direct confrontation if the situation isn’t resolved.
