The Prince Albert Police Service is trumpeting its mid-year statistics.
According to its numbers, overall offences in the city are down 8.6% from the same time last year.
Looking even further, assaults are down by 35.7%, while crimes against people are down by 28%.
Sgt. Kelly McLean says they credit the HUB/COR program with helping lower the numbers.
Through those measures, the police service sits down regularly with outreach groups, health agencies and other government departments to talk over issues and problem areas.
McLean says they are “convinced that this is the way to go”.
Some areas that aren’t going down include robberies (up 2.4%), traffic violations (up 7.9%), and drug possession (up 6.8%).
McLean says they also are seeing more sheds being targeted for break and enters.
