Saskatchewan Education Minister Russ Marchuk has announced $200,000 in funding for the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan for research to improve education and employment for Metis people.
The president of the MN-S, Robert Doucette, welcomes the funding — saying it will ensure the Metis people are part of the new Saskatchewan.
The funding is part of a larger strategy involving a joint task force which is holding public hearings.
It will put together a strategy for First Nations and Metis employment.
The task force began its work last spring and will complete its report early next year.
