Saskatchewan’s outfitting industry is riding out another tough year.
Since December, about 60 camps have changed hands — and many operators are doing what they can to cut costs.
The president of the Saskatchewan Outfitters association describes the situation as difficult but not desperate.
Brian Hoffart says the industry depends largely on how the U.S. economy is doing.
Hoffart says when things get tough in the States, they also get tough for his industry.
“I can see a lot of people laying off the extra staff, and . . . just kind of trying to maintain a presence without going into bankruptcy.”
There are about 650 outfitters in the province, most of which are situated in northern Saskatchewan.
