Aboriginal youth between the ages of 15 and 21 will get the chance to learn more about their culture next week.

Starting on Sunday, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is holding a youth culture camp just south of Waskesiu.

FSIN Vice-Chief Bobby Cameron says subjects covered at the camp include the environment, food, herbal medicine, water, treaty rights and others:

“We’re expecting that the youth will leave camp having knowledge and interest in finding out about our First Nations culture.  We hope they will see the connection between First Nations and the environment — and the sacred tie that binds us to our land as land stewards.”

The FSIN plans to make the camp an annual event for the next three years.
