A Saskatoon company has been hit with a big fine for clearing bush west of Creighton without a permit.
Winn Bay Sand Ltd. was charged after the Ministry of Environment received a call in February 2011.
Conservation officers investigated and found that a road had been cleared to the company’s processing facility at Hanson Lake.
Officials say the cleared stretch was 2.5 km long and 20 metres wide.
The company was found guilty of one count of harvesting forest products without a licence.
It was handed a $42,000 fine and ordered to contribute $5,000 to an environmental program or fund.
